The “Ford Foods Chia” means Certified Quality at each step of the Production Process.

1. Growing Chia seed (Agricultural Process):
EUREPGAP in our Chia Plantations – This Quality Label guarantees:
a. A minimum detrimental environmental impact of farming operations,
b. The reduction of chemical inputs and
c. The warranty for a responsible approach to worker´s health and safety.
d. Traceability

 Cleaning, Selection and Warehousing (Manufacturing Process):
HACCP Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points and GMP Good Manufacturing Practice (Codex Alimentarius)
This Control System is a systematic and preventive approach for food safety (rather than finished product inspection) that allows us to identify potential food safety hazards in order to control “key” actions in the process, reducing or eliminating risk. GMP Good Manufacturing Practice: This certification ensures a controlled management of the manufacturing processes and a quality control testing. Traceability and, if necessary, recall of damaged products are also enabled by this control.

Kosher

 

Ford Foods Chia is Kosher and Parve for all year around including passover.

 

GMO Free

Ford Foods Chia crops are completely GMO-free; the seeds have been grown naturally, following a thorough and lengthy selection process that developed for many years and will continue in the future.

 

Gluten Free

A gluten-free diet is recommended amongst other things in the treatment of coeliac disease and wheat allergy. It is a diet completely free of ingredients derived from gluten-containing cereals: wheat (including kamut and spelt), barley, rye, oats and triticale, as well as the use of gluten as a food additive in the form of a flavoring, stabilizing or thickening agent. Although some people for whom a gluten-free diet is recommended can tolerate oat products and some medical practitioners say they may be permitted, there is controversy about including them in a gluten-free diet because studies on the subject are incomplete.

Pesticides Free

 

Our Chia Field are granted Pesticides Free, the plagues and pest control is ensured by manual labor. In addition to this the plant has natural defenses against insects; the essential oil content in Salvia Hispánica L. acts as a natural insect and plague repellent, thereby eliminating the need for chemical pesticides.
